The old world architecture in Melbourne, as well as the buried blocks below street level, show Australia was not a barren land stolen from Aborigines less than 250 years ago.
It’s claimed Melbourne was only founded in 1835, but It’s clear the oldest buildings and infrastructure were already there long before that time, and inherited from a more advanced civilisation; not built in record time with horse & cart technology and no power tools.
The historical narrative around colonialism and the gold rush, which is often used to explain away how this advanced architecture was built so quickly, is an obvious lie.
This is why the Australian government has been continually destroying many of these buildings, despite them being built to last forever and far more advanced than anything we build today.
