I bought this 1637 or i637 KJV Bible on eBay, original condition. It’s a goldmine.
I haven’t gone through it all yet but there’s a particularly interesting analysis of Revelation that the publishers at the time decided to bind alongside the scriptures (see gallery at the bottom of this post).
It’s significant because it shows that there were active efforts to confuse people about the correct interpretation of scripture even back then. The analysis of Revelation is clearly false and deceptive on its face (read it for yourself below and come to your own conclusions).
As was commonly thought at the time, the 1637 Bible’s extra material identifies the Roman papacy as the (fake) Antichrist of scripture. The papacy, while undoudtedly antichrist, is not the Antichrist of scripture, as this all occurred within the same generation of the gospels.
The papacy can today play more of a good guy role because the advent of dispensationalism has meant that deceived Christians are looking for the Antichrist, great tribulation and mark of the beast in every nook and cranny (prophecies that have long been fulfilled).
There’s no indication that this 1637 Bible was printed during the 1000 year millennial reign. This is just one artefact that shows a decent amount of time has passed since Revelation was fulfilled; it also helps to show that we cannot today still be in the little season of Satan, like some claim.
Before futurism / dispensationalism and fake Israel in the Middle East was injected into the narrative, the papacy played a vital role of being the fake Antichrist for people who believe the scriptures. This is known as the “historicist” interpretation of Bible prophecy.
Roman Catholicism fits too well with the Mystery Babylon of scripture, with Rome being on seven hills, the bishops and cardinals wearing purple and scarlet, and the pope effectively calling himself a replacement Christ.
While Roman Catholicism is false and unbiblical, as is the papacy, it’s important to realise that the world is a stage, and deception is the order of the day.
Today, with dispensationalism and shills everywhere you look, pretty much anyone can be called the Antichrist and people will believe it, from Donald Trump to Barack Obama. The mark of the beast is around every corner, be it the vaccine, transhumanism or even Sunday worship, there’s no shortage of speculation and fear mongering.
The truth is Jesus returned to the same generation like he said he would. The Antichrist, tribulation and mark of the beast is long in the rear view mirror. Armageddon was the end of the world. New Jerusalem is already here and waiting for us to make the pilgrimage.
The scriptures in this 1637 Bible from what i’ve seen so far seem to be the normal KJV scriptures but spelling is not standardised. It’s rare to see an original condition Bible this old, particularly one that doesn’t have an unreadable gothic font and that includes so much extra non-scripture material, giving insight into the beliefs at that time.
For what it’s worth, I don’t believe the official narrative about how we got our Bibles, as that history is as invented as the rest of our secular history. I believe the Authorised Version KJV potentially came out of the millennial reign.
This 1637 Bible includes the Apocrypha separated from the scriptures just like the 1768/i768 Cambridge KJV I bought and posted about recently. This is partly why I believe the Apocrypha is still worth a read, despite not being scripture, and despite not being included with most modern KJVs (Cambridge still sells a Cameo KJV edition with the Apocrypha).
I’ll post more from this Bible as I go through it – let me know your thoughts on this commentary on Revelation that was included with it.
